Listening into Being Comes North

14 September, 2024
9.30am - 3.30pm

Tara and Drew will offer the day retreat we offered in Hobart earlier this year.
Come to our gig, and participate in:
• A safe space, co-created and vigilantly monitored by each of us and your facilitators Tara and Drew
• Group and 1:1 conversations, which are by invitation, not demand – you choose whether to participate
• Together, in whole group and twos and threes, we will explore:

the Quaker concept of "inner teacher", and of the importance of tapping inner wisdom to achieve a better soul-role match, and hence greater sense of purpose in life.

Expanding our insights that arise from this quote from Douglas Steere: "To listen another's soul into a condition of disclosure and discovery may be almost the greatest service that any human being ever performs for another"

Responses (quite natural) that can impede disclosure and discovery: fixing, saving, advising, correcting.

Honest, open questioning that enhances discovery. The power of being curious

The importance of scene setting to create space for listening, including "walk and talks" : two people walking side by side rather than sitting face to face
(brief overview) Clearness Meetings or Clearness Committees or, as we would prefer to call them, Meetings for Worship for Clearness

What we can do to embed "listening into being" into the life of our meetings

This is an experiential course, which will use facilitated personal reflection drawing on the work of Quaker Parker Palmer and use a range of poetry as stimulus materials. As you consider joining us, please keep in mind our commitment to your safety and participation by invitation – the control is yours.
