Overnight accommodation can be booked by Friends, or those with Quaker connections, at Meeting Houses in the cities listed below. Costs and arrangements vary and may be found by contacting the individual Meeting House. Please provide sufficient information in your request to establish your bona fides as a Friend or as a person connected with Friends.

Individual Friends may be willing to provide accommodation also, so you could try contacting the appropriate Regional Meeting clerk.

 

Blue Mountains, NSW

Quaker Cottage, 4 Oakura Avenue, Woodford NSW, in the beautiful world heritage Blue Mountains. The Cottage has 2 bedrooms (one with double bed, the other with two single beds). A folding cot, suitable for babies or toddlers, is available. Enjoy sunny living areas, library, lovely garden. Close to national park, bushwalks, train station / highway. Holiday or retreat venue. Cottage: $80 per night for one or two adults, and $15 for any extra adult. Accompanying children free. Sheets and towels: extra $12 to cover laundry. The Kelvin Grove Meeting House accommodation is available at a modest tariff to travelling Friends.  The caretakers can also provide "breakfast basics" by prior arrangement. We have a guest bedroom on the ground floor with a double and a single bed, and an adjoining bathroom.  Guests may use the shared Garden Room kitchen to prepare simple meals.  We are less than three kilometres from the Brisbane CBD with excellent public transport.  The Meeting House is used each Sunday for Meeting for Worship and on most other days by various hire groups.  For more information, email the caretakers: rmqldbookings@quakersaustralia.info, or telephone 0466 968 234.

Accommodation is available at Friends' House, 35 Clifton Crescent, Mt. Lawley, for a modest donation. The Meeting House has a library, meeting room, kitchen, dining area, bathroom and one twin bedroom. There is no resident Friend at the Meeting House. Prior bookings are essential and accommodation is available for short term stays. Silver Wattle Quaker Centre, NSW

Silver Wattle Quaker Centre welcomes guests at any time for a few days as a sojourner, or longer term as a resident volunteer. Accommodation is simple, affordable and comfortable. Guests are welcome to join with others in the daily rhythm of worship, meals, activity, reflection, and community life. Silver Wattle follows public health advice for COVID safe policy, such as full vaccination and QR code check in. The full COVID policy can be found on the website. Friends House, 119 Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, NSW, is a tranquil place in the inner city. A short walk from Central Station, close to the business district, shops, restaurants, cafes and all forms of transport yet with the calm you would expect in a heritage building that has held Meeting for Worship for over a hundred years. Fully refurbished in 2000, there are four guest rooms: one single, two doubles and a twin single; modest room tariffs include a continental breakfast. Accommodation is again available. Gembrook Retreat, 215 Beenak East Rd, Gembrook (Dandenong Ranges, 1.5 hours east of Melbourne CBD) sits on 22 acres of fields, orchards and regenerating native bushlands. We welcome guests to our Cabin or 2 Sleeping Pods using the Meeting House facilities. Accommodation is simple, affordable and comfortable. With an environmental focus, the Cabin is powered by solar, has cold tank water and has a separate composting toilet nearby.  Cost is by sliding scale: ranging from $10-$50 per person per night (under age 15 free).
