Quakers call for independents to support a NACC

Australian Quakers have sent letters, signed by our Presiding Clerk Bruce Henry, to each of the current ten independent Parliamentarians calling on them to work together to advocate for a National Anti-Corruption Commission.

The letter to Dr. Sophie Scamps, MD, one of the ten independent Parliamentarians begins:

Dear Dr. Sophie Scamps MP,

I am writing on behalf of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Australia about the upcoming Bill to establish the National Anti-Corruption Commission. We are asking you to work together, with other independent Parliamentarians, to stand strong and advocate for a NACC that will serve the future of Australian society, the common good and the environment well. Much will need to change in the parliamentarian subculture to achieve good integrity, however we are hopeful that over time, change can be achieved.
